Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero, an American singer and actress is a former model. Her most well-known work is her role in Prince's 1984 film Purple Rain as well as being the lead vocalist of Apollonia 6, a girl group. It was among the many female performers who gained of Prince's involvement throughout the 1980s. Patricia Kotero began her acting and modeling career in Santa Monica California, in the late '70s. This included an appearance on CHiPS. In 1984, she was the female lead of Prince's Purple Rain (during which time he altered her name) and was replaced by Vanity as a member of the female group Vanity 6 singing with them in the movie under the name Apollonia 6. The singer made a bigger impact on the charts as Prince's partner in Take Me with You, the duet on the soundtrack. Kotero cut ties with Prince when they had a disagreement throughout her career. Apollonia 6 broke up due to their disagreement. She appeared in several minor movies during this period however, she was not able to take part in the Purple Rain sequel Under the Cherry Moon. From 1985 to 1986 she was offered a role on the show called Falcon Crest. Apollonia's debut album was released in 1988. But the R&B/dance songs were not a huge hit by the public who purchased music. The album soon vanished. Apollonia continued to act (if somewhat obscure) throughout the following decade. Her small TV roles as well as minor film roles and workout videos kept her active. In 1997, Apollonia released a Spanish/English album called Stay With Me. She later returned to school earned a filmmaking degree, and formed her own production firm, which mainly focuses on the field of children's TV. Apollonia is a multi-talented woman. She's worked as an actress, model and talent manager. As an actress she is well-known for her part in the 1984 film Purple Rain. Apart from Purple Rain, she has played in other television and film projects like Black Magic Woman or The Divorce Ceremony. Kotero debuted her career as a model.
